25 interested for e-Cab biennial election 2024-26

Total 25 people have applied to be candidates for the executive council election of E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (E-CAB) for the term 2024-26. In the last election, 31 people applied, but 27 were active in vote in three panels. However, this time 25 candidates have submitted their application through physical and public representatives within the deadline of 4 pm on Monday. There are 5 women candidates among the candidates. 8 candidates came to the polls for the first time. The remaining 12 are attended at election multiple times.

There is no possibility of more than two panels in the number of candidates this time. 1 thousand 364 people can vote to elect the leader among the candidates who survived in the final stage.

Meanwhile, in the afternoon, 9 people submitted their candidacy for the post of director in the annual executive committee election. They are the current President Shami Qaiser, Finance Secretary Asif Ahnaf, Director Saidur Rahman Saeed, Syeda Ambarin Reza, Shahriar Hasan, Khandaker Tasfin Alam and Md Ilmul Haque Sajib and founding member and former Finance Director Mohammad Abdul Haque Anu. Nurunnabi Hasan was also seen as a new face. E-CAB Founder General Secretary Mohammad Abdul Waheed Tamal and E-CAB Executive Committee Election Board Chief and Additional Secretary of Ministry of Commerce Md. Hafizur Rahman took a picture before submitting the nomination papers.

According to sources, the senior vice-president of the current committee Mohammad Sahab Uddin Shipan and joint secretary Nachima Akhter Nisha have submitted nominations from abroad. These 11 people are going to vote together again. All of them, except Md Ilmul Haque Sajeeb, who was elected from the rival Changemakers in the last polls, were in the 'vanguard' party, which won an absolute majority last year.

On the other hand, Tasdikh Habib and Mohammad Mozammel Haque, who were in Changemaker last time, are going to compete again individually. Also, it has been confirmed that e-cab founding members Mir Shahed Ali, Hosneyara Noori Naureen, Ruhul Quddus Choton, Md Shafiqul Islam and last year's Oikya panel candidates Abdul Aziz and Sazzadul Islam Fahmi have submitted their nominations.

According to the schedule, the polling of this election will be held on July 27 (Saturday) from 10 am to 4 pm at Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Convention Hall (5th floor) in Shahbagsth, Dhaka.

Before this, the candidature can be withdrawn till July 10. The Election Commission will publish the final candidate list that evening. Post distribution will be on July 29.
